Two Sticks And Some String !

This is me, an opinionated, politically progressive Canadian Lace Knitter who's lived and worked in western Canada, and on the east coast of the USA; a multi-skilled person who's been recently re-elected to public office, has a Class One driver's license, a human services professional in direct service, middle and senior management positions, and a MOM!

PhoenixPalme, Part Deux

Welcome back to Two Sticks. Here I have my PhoenixPalme at Round 212 (out of 300 ... oy!).

Kitty #1 (of
five) is giving it a close inspection. I think it met with his approval, because he stretched out on it shortly after this picture was taken.

Next two pics shows the development of the palm trees. Thanks to my wonderful guy for stretching it out (I had four repeats each on a steel welding rod) and holding it while I took the pic. Those are the hands that rebuilt our kitchen earlier this year, and reroofed our house this summer!

When completed, this tablecloth will be given as a Christmas gift to my dad and his wife. They watched me finish my Lily of the Valley in early 2004, and both became quite enchanted with lace knitting. My dad will be 82 next month, and I think it's about time he and his wife have a piece of gorgeous knitting for their oak table!

Speaking of 82 year old men, there he is! He and his wife were visiting Victoria recently, and he got to meet his youngest (and second) great-grandchild for the first time, my great-nephew Garnet. It was pretty much love at first sight (how could it NOT be??!!).

Then my dad and my oldest great-nephew, Benjamin, read a book together (Pirates Don't Change Diapers!). This little boy is the first baby born to our family since my son was born in 1979 (otherwise known as responsible reproduction ... ;-)

I probably won't have another report on the PhoenixPalme until it's finished, as it is simply toooooo much work putting it on the rods and then back on the circular needle.

Hi Peggy! Former tenant and NEW lace knitter who lurks around peaking into my blog from time to time ... we gotta get you a blog so you can show off your knitting masterpieces! When you come over for those iris roots, you'll have to bring your doily along with you. I'd love to see it!
